I believe Washington deserves an A+ for his grade as a president. There are many reasons why I believe this. Washington was the only president in history to receive 100% of the votes from the Electoral College’s. Washington may have accomplished this by having the world look up to him as a high standing force in the military. When Washington first took office his thoughts were to make things easier for future presidents. This is a very noble thing to think of by putting others in front of him for their success.

Washington was in office to obtain his goals and better the country. He as a president has accomplished this and passed with flying colors. Washington was a dedicated and well-rounded president. He attempted to solve problems to keep out newly nation in one. He helped to stop conflict between the New England colonies and the Southern colonies. Also, he mediated and fixed the friction between the Secretary of State Thomas Jefferson and the Secretary of the Treasury Alexander Hamilton. Since he sided with Hamilton on some of his arguments and policies this became the main target for the Jeffersonian Democratic-Republicans. Some of these policies were the assumption of state debts, the Bank of the United States, and the excise tax.

After being reelected in 1792, he was then in for the biggest problem that would later arise from his cabinet. This was the dispute of American neutrality during the war between England and France. The policy that was set into place was very upsetting for the Jeffersonians who were pro-French. Then Jay’s Treaty was set into place and this resulted in settling outstanding differences between the United States and England. The Jeffersonians viewed this as being surrender to the British. Washington held up his standards with the excise law during the Whiskey rebellion in western Pennsylvania.

Washington was attempting at an early stage of his presidency to establish a peaceful and strong relationship with Congress. Both the Congress and Washington were new at what they were doing so you could say they were just getting a feel for things as they first began. In 1776 Washington received the Congressional Gold Medal from the Congress. So it’s evident that they both possessed a durable and healthy relationship with each other. This was just the very beginning of their relationship and the things that they accomplish later in his terms together. As I stated earlier Jay’s Treaty was a document that Congress and Washington agreed on and was beneficial for the Untied States.

Washington while in office had the Bill of Rights put into power. This was a very important event for the United States because this document gave the people of the United States a guarantee of their rights. This document help shape the country into the w
ay it is today. People today will “Plead the fifth” which is off of the Bill of Rights which was put under the presidency of George Washington. People still to this day fight for the bearing of firearms, and their rights. The biggest one that people make reference to would be the very first amendment, your freedom’s, the freedom of Speech, the freedom of Religion, the freedom of Press, the freedom of Assembly, and the freedom of Petition. Washington has definitely left his lasting impression or his footprint on the United States. He has his part in history for the things he did such as the Bill of Rights.

Some accomplishments that he has achieved are; he established a good financial system, the Indian threat coming from the east of the Mississippi had been eliminated by a great percent and last, he settled Jay’s Treaty and Pinckney’s Treaty.

Washington as a president as I stated earlier has earned and deserved an A+ for his actions in office the way he held himself under conflict. He was elected president with 100% of the votes from the electors for a reason and he is still the only person in history to receive all votes on his side. Washington was very deserving for this grade as a president.
